AGE 52 I DEGGENDORF, GERMANY I GERMANY
Having turned 50 and with her only daughter recently off to college, Uta Hielscher finds herself wanting to “fulfill some dreams.” She trained as a classical pianist, culminating with an artist diploma from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich when she was 25. She worked as a freelance pianist several years, until the birth of her daughter. Though now an executive assistant for an accounting firm, Uta’s career has largely focused around music: she worked for six years as organizer for the Kulturwald Festival in the Bavarian Forest; co-founded the award-winning Konzerthaus Blaibach; and was founder and managing director for the non-profit Kulturwald, Ltd. This marks her first competition appearance, and she looks forward to getting to know other music lovers, to goal-oriented practicing, and to performing in the United States.
