AGE 59 I WILLISTON PARK, NEW YORK I UNITED STATES
Henri-Robert Delbeau finds it his “great fortune” to be a physician in a field that “revels in science and creative endeavors.” Currently serving as chief hospitalist at Brookhaven Memorial Medical Center on Long Island, he earned his M.D. at Cornell University and more recently added an MBA from West Texas State A&M University to his credentials. He says his career “constantly pushes one to learn, innovate, and reinvent oneself,” but also notes the inherent burden of responsibility. He finds his outlet in the piano, his “comfort food.” He studied music seriously before pivoting to a career in medicine, earning music degrees from the University of Texas at Austin (B.M.) and the University of North Texas (M.M.) Now an active amateur pianist, he values the motivation and friends that competitions (including previous Cliburn Amateur) have brought him.
