Korean pianist Jiwon Yang made her recital debut in Seoul at age 9 and her concerto debut in Kazakhstan at 13. Since then, she has won numerous prizes in North America, Europe, and her native country—including third prize at the 2019 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival. Concerto performances include collaborations with the Camerata New York, Dallas Symphony, State Academic Symphony, and Salzburg Chamber Soloist Orchestras, under the direction of such conductors as Ruth Reinhardt, Richard Owen, and Gerhardt Zimmerman. In fall 2020, Jiwon enrolled in the bachelor’s program at the Mannes School of Music on a full scholarship, under the guidance of Richard Goode and Pavlina Dokovksa. As a student, she has been presented in numerous Mannes Sounds Festival events, as well as the school’s closing concert in Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall. She previously studied with Hyoung Joon Chang in Korea, and has participated in masterclasses with John O’Connor, Pascal Roge, and Roberto Plano, among others.
