Kevin Gunter serves on the piano faculty at Southern Methodist University in a unique hybrid position, working with graduates, undergraduates, children, and adults. He is also co-director of the annual SMU Institute for Young Pianists, and he hosts a weekly master class for adults in the SMU Lifelong Learning Program.

Mr. Gunter is also an active musical director, conductor, and keyboardist in the Dallas musical theatre scene, having given hundreds of performances, including regional and world premieres, with acclaim from The Dallas Morning News, The Dallas Observer, Dallas Voice, and many others. He has garnered praise for his ability to “steal the show with terrific, toe-tapping music” (BroadwayWorld), as well as his “expertly conducted” performances and “sweet keyboard” (TheatreJones).

Mr. Gunter presented his solo lecture, “Trending Now: Your Future with Adult Students” at the 2019 Music Teachers National Association Conference in Spokane, Washington, and is published in the MTNA e-Journal. His students are active as well, performing in events far and wide such as the Brancaleoni International Music Festival in Italy, the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy in Chicago, and the Interlochen Music Festival in Michigan.
