ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Georgia Fender
host and soprano

Actor Georgia Fender is happy to be based back in her hometown of Fort Worth after spending several years in New York City. A graduate of the acting program at Oklahoma City University and the Professional Musical Theatre Workshop at Circle in the Square Theatre School, she is excited to be working with the Cliburn after watching her grandmother’s lifelong volunteer efforts on behalf of this incredible organization!

She began her journey in the arts with her first ballet classes at the age of 3 and got her first “starring” role as one of three turkeys in a kindergarten Thanksgiving play. From that moment on, she was hooked. She joined a children’s choir soon after, and has been acting, singing, and dancing ever since.

As an actor, Georgia can be seen on stages locally and across the country. Some favorite credits include the role of Nurse in Romeo and Juliet (Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival); Morticia in The Addams Family and Ms. Trunchbull in Matilda (Firehouse Theatre); Lucy Van Pelt in A Charlie Brown Christmas (Palace Theatre); and as the lead singer of The Jingles Belles at Six Flags Over Texas!

Outside of theater, she works as a bridal stylist, is an active member of the Junior Women’s Club of Fort Worth, and spends most of her free time with Isabelle, her goofy German Shorthaired Pointer.

Haerim Elizabeth Lee
violin

Haerim Elizabeth Lee captivates audiences worldwide, “leaving them breathless with impeccable phrasing and relevant musicality” (El Norte, Mexico). She has appeared as a guest soloist with the Festival Orchestra Unibac in Cartagena, Filharmonie Bohuslava Martinů, Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de la UNAL, and Seoul Virtuosi.

As both performer and scholar, Ms. Lee has distinguished herself as a visionary advocate for new and cross-cultural repertoire. She was the inaugural recipient of the Tarisio Young Artist Grant, awarded for her leadership as the artistic director of MoKo Musik, a collective dedicated to the promotion and commissioning of works for a mixed ensemble of Korean traditional and Western instruments. Supported by the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University, MoKo Musik recently recorded a newly commissioned work by Texu Kim written for the ensemble.

Ms. Lee has participated in renowned festivals such as the International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove, Aspen, Tanglewood, Schleswig-Holstein, and Music Academy of the West. She is the co-founder and director of the Texas Chamber Music Institute, and serves as an assistant professor of violin and director of chamber music at the TCU School of Music.

Mikhail “Misha” Berestnev

piano

Equally in demand as a recitalist, soloist, and chamber musician, Mikhail “Misha” Berestnev brings to every performance the experiences of a career spanning the globe, including Australia, Ireland, Russia, Belgium, Brazil, and Spain, in addition to concert halls across the United States. As a soloist, he has performed under the baton of Maestro Hector Guzman, and Texas composer and conductor Dr. Robert Xavier Rodriguez. But Misha finds the most joy in collaborating with friends, so he is often seen in chamber groups with members of the Dallas Symphony; as the pianist of the MAKE Trio; and with the Julius String Quartet.

Misha is artist-in-residence with the St. Matthews Cathedral Arts Program in Dallas, guest artist and collaborative pianist with the “Musica Nova” Ensemble at the University of Texas at Dallas, collaborative pianist at The Dallas Opera Family & Outreach Program and Texas Ballet Theater, and an artist of Cliburn in the Classroom.

Outside of music, Misha likes swimming, soccer, and tennis, and has a unique talent for remembering people’s names!
