Harpist Bridget Kibbey’s Bach to Brazil takes audiences on a musical journey starting with the baroque courts of Europe, melding with the rhythm of West Africa, and mixing with the melodies of the Caribbean coast, tracking the stories that give us the songs and dances we love, alongside the folk masters that inspired them. Kibbey is joined by Latin-Grammy® winning percussionist Samuel Torres and Sphinx Competition winner, violinist Rubén Rengel on this sonic voyage, performing music from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Germany, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela.
Renowned as soloist, chamber musician, and curator Bridget Kibbey is known for her great musical instincts that transcend the harp. Through it all, her virtuosic and soulful ability to communicate draws in the audience. In short, “she [makes] it seem as though her instrument had been waiting all its life to explode with the gorgeous colors and energetic figures she was getting from it” (The New York Times). Join Bridget’s charismatic journey finding the beautiful connections through time, rhythm, and melody.
