In the All-American Concerto Evening, you’ll hear three iconic American concertos performed by three extraordinary American soloists with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robert Spano. The Orchestra sets the tone for the evening with Aaron Copland’s gregarious An Outdoor Overture. Followed by Samuel Barber’s glorious Violin Concerto from rising star Amaryn Olmeda, who at only 18-years-old has performed with the Philadelphia and Cleveland Orchestras, made her solo debut at Carnegie Hall, and recorded on Deutsche Grammophon. Then, Oklahoma native and Cliburn favorite Joshua Roman performs a Cello Concerto by composer Mason Bates, written specifically for Joshua in 2014. In the grand finale, California-born Angel Stanislav Wang, who won the hearts of piano fans around the globe as a finalist at the 2025 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, returns to the Bass Hall stage with his take on that most iconic American work, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
