About

“For me, performing is about much more than the pieces themselves; it is also about creating a safe space for audiences to connect to the music, to themselves, and to share a grand heart together for a moment. Within music, our differences as people seem to vanish, and we can share a moment of truth, of emotion, and beauty all together.”

Alice Burla’s journey as a musician began very early, at the age of 4; she was accepted to Juilliard Pre-College at age 6, made her concerto debut at 8 performing two concertos in one evening, and within a few years, she was performing and attending festivals internationally. She started her conservatory studies in Madrid with Dmitri Bashkirov at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in 2013; then in 2016, she moved to Switzerland to study with Claudio Martínez Mehner and Anton Kernjak at the Musik Akademie Basel, where she completed her bachelor’s and soloist master’s with distinction.

Alice has performed around the world, with highlights including the Tonhalle Zürich, Victoria Hall Geneva, Dubai Opera, Carnegie Hall and Teatro la Fenice, as well as orchestra engagements with the Sinfonieorchester Basel, argovia philharmonic, and Donetsk Philharmonic Orchestra. She played at the World Economic Forum in Geneva for Swiss humanitarian organization Medair, whose purpose is to provide emergency relief in devastated communities, and was recently a gala artist of the 40° Festival Internacional de Piano UIS in Bucaramanga, Colombia. Alice is a laureate of major international competitions, with strong finishes at the Sydney (fourth prize), Montréal (laureate and finalist) and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (third prize). She collaborates regularly with cellist Daniel Müller-Schott and has previously also worked with Ilya Gringolts, Maxim Vengerov, and Peter Eötvös, among others. She’s been featured on medici.tv and PBS’ “Live from Carnegie Hall,” as well as being broadcast on national radio in Switzerland, Spain, and Italy. She portrayed a piano prodigy in the film Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, with Michael Douglas and Carey Mulligan.

Alice speaks five languages and finds inspiration all around her: nature, painting, meditation, scuba diving, and spending time with animals.
