Lewis Warren, Jr.

Lewis Warren, Jr. is an award-winning pianist, arranger, composer, and improviser based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He started piano lessons at 8 years old and has since won competitions, recorded albums, and performed on television. His flexible music skills and powerful ability to connect with diverse audiences have been hallmarks of his career.

Lewis has performed his own piano arrangements for NBC’s America’s Got Talent, NASCAR’s Samsung 500, and several others. He has also given three TEDx talks, all of which included Lewis’ improvisations on well-known pieces and audience suggestions. Locally, he has been seen on stage as a soloist with the Dallas Symphony, Wichita Falls Symphony, and Irving Symphony Orchestras.

As a composer and arranger, Lewis has written works for piano, voice, and ensembles. He arranged the Negro spiritual I’ve Been Buked for the NEC Black Student Union’s commemoration of Coretta Scott King and Let My Words Be Few for Boston University’s a cappella ensemble. Lewis has released two albums, Shine on Us and A Christmas Album, which feature his original compositions and arrangements.

Lewis holds degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and Southern Methodist University. He works as the music director for Northwood Church in Keller, and teaches piano lessons to students of all ages and experiences.

Lewis is no stranger to Cliburn in the Classroom. When he was a young piano student, he performed for a program all about improvisation, making up his own original tunes right on the spot. He is excited to return to the Cliburn team after a brief pause to finish school!
