ABOUT THE 2022 CLIBURN AMATEUR COMPETITORS

We are thrilled to announce the 39 incredible pianists who have been invited to compete in Fort Worth, Texas, October 12–18, 2022. These multitalented musicians represent 17 countries and range in age from 38–72. An additional 15 pianists (listed at the bottom of this page) have been selected as non-competing festival participants, bringing the total number of pianists to 53 and countries represented to 19.

Applications closed January 16, 2020, and a selection committee chose the 48 competitors and 24 festival participants from an impressive pool of 205 applicants representing 32 countries, through online applications and video submissions of 15 to 20 minutes in length. Competitors were originally announced in March 2020, prior to the Competition’s postponement.

The Amateur Competition will take place in Fort Worth, Texas, with the Preliminary & Semifinal Rounds at Van Cliburn Recital Hall and the Final Round concert with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra at Bass Performance Hall. This eighth edition of the Cliburn Amateur was previously scheduled for May 2020. All rounds are open to the public, as are many of the festival events. We hope you’ll join us for this truly inspiring, international event, where everyday people become stars of the stage.
