Pianist Dzmitry “Dima” Ulasiuk was raised in an environment of classical music in Minsk, Belarus. Born to a clarinetist father and violinist mother, his parents enrolled him in music school at a young age. Ironically, young Dima refused to take the required entrance exam, but a kind teacher waived the requirement and accepted him.
At age 16, Dima’s love for music blossomed, and he decided to pursue a professional career in performance; he gave a solo recital of all Chopin music one year later. While working on his doctorate in Belarus, he was recruited to study at Texas Christian University. He then continued his studies at Southern Methodist University, and finally completed his doctorate degree in piano performance at the University of North Texas. A laureate of 17 international piano competitions, Dr. Ulasiuk has performed worldwide, in both solo recitals and with orchestras.
For his Carnegie debut, a critic wrote, “There are times when a reviewer simply decides to put pencil and paper away and enjoy the music, and this was one of those times” (New York Concert Review). Dr. Ulasiuk received critical acclaim for his first two commercial CDs under the Centaur Records label. Fans can find his music on iTunes, YouTube, and Amazon.
Dima’s second biggest love is space. He enjoys learning everything he can about stars, dark matter, black holes, galaxies, and rocket science. He lives in Allen with his wife, kids, and loyal lab named Ronnie.
