GRAMMY AWARD-NOMINATED PIANIST, MARC-ANDRÉ HAMELIN TO PERFORM AT BASS PERFORMANCE HALL ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2010 AT 7:30 PM.

SPECIAL APPEARANCE AT ONE ARTS PLAZA TO BE BROADCAST LIVE ON WRR 101.1 FM ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2010 AT NOON.

Fort Worth, Texas January 19, 2010: Compared to the legendary Vladimir Horowitz, pianist Marc-André Hamelin's performance in his recent Philadelphia recital was notable for his dynamic precision and expressive use of tonal color, in addition to his technical virtuosity. And as Alex Ross wrote in The New Yorker, "Hamelin's legend will grow - right now there is no one like him."

His performance at the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall marks his recital debut in Dallas/Fort Worth. Mr. Hamelin's other North American recital engagements this year include appearances on the San Francisco Performances, La Jolla Music Society, Maine Center for the Arts, the 92nd Street Y in New York City, Club Musical de Québec, and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society series. Abroad, Mr. Hamelin returns to London's Wigmore Hall, and plays recitals in Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Glasgow, Berlin and throughout Italy, Spain and Australia.

Concert engagements include appearances with the symphony orchestras of Boston, Indianapolis, Minnesota, Montreal, San Francisco, and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Orquesta Sinfónica de Valencia, and the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, with whom he performs and records the Strauss Burlesque and Max Reger's Piano Concerto, for Hyperion. Dallas Symphony audiences are well-acquainted with Mr. Hamelin's artistry from his performances of Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2 and Four Piano Pieces conducted by Andrew Litton, which were captured and released in 2006 on the Hyperion label. These recordings added to his Hyperion discography which includes over thirty-five cds in repertoire ranging from his most recent release, Haydn: Piano Sonatas, Vol. 2 (CDA67710), to his 2009 Grammy nominated Marc-André Hamelin in a state of jazz (CDA67656).

Mr. Hamelin was recently presented with a lifetime achievement prize by the German Record Critic's Award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik). A native of Canada, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2003 and a Chevalier de l'Ordre du Québec in 2004; he is also a member of the Royal Society of Canada.
