Musical Awakenings® Showcased as Teaching Tool at SMU

The Cliburn Foundation presented a Musical Awakenings demonstration to students at SMU as part of the FACE class. SMU's FACE class brings in musical artists and programming targeted to young audiences to demonstrate that programming to their college students pursuing fine arts degrees. A group of 5th and 6th graders were invited to SMU to participate in the Musical Awakenings presentation. At the conclusion of the program, the young students were released, and the remaining FACE class time was dedicated to discussions between the college students and the Musical Awakenings artists.

FACE (First-Year Arts Community Experience) provides SMU Meadows School of the Arts first-year artists an environment where they can learn to work together, monetize their practice, collaborate, and find common ground among their different forms of artistry. Big Thought partners with Meadows to support not only the FACE class, but also to provide curriculum and instruction in teaching artistry.
