Screening Auditions in... New York, New York!
After Hong Kong, Hannover, Moscow, and Milan, the final two cities of the Screening Auditions are New York and Fort Worth. 132 candidates were invited to participate in the Screening Auditions. So far we have heard 72 candidates; now we have 52 more candidates to go--32 in NY, 20 in Fort Worth, plus 4 candidates on DVD. 4 candidates withdrew from the auditions for a total of 132.

Last day in Milan, back to Texas!
After three weeks, we have heard a total of 72 pianists in four cities. That means a lot of Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, and Ravel. At the end of the entire auditions (we still have New York and Fort Worth to go!), I will make a "Competition Repertoire 101" list, which means all of the "big piano pieces" that you will listen to in any competition: for instance Liszt Sonata, Rachmaninoff Second Sonata, Gaspard de la nuit by Ravel, etc.
