On March 7, 2012, Kimberly M. Britton, director, Community Relations at Chesapeake and Van Cliburn Foundation board member, presented Alann Bedford Sampson and Carla Kemp Thompson with the check for underwriting the Cliburn's spring 2012 Community Concerts. The check presentation was held at the Southwest Community Center, one of five venues for the March 2012 Community Concerts that featured Mariangela Vacatello, a 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition finalist. Ms. Vacatello performed works by Mozart, Debussy, Prokofiev, and Liszt and participated in a question and answer session with the attendees after her recitals.
