2007Gala Invite

Flash and dazzle blew in with the beautiful weather the evening of March 24 at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel. The Cliburn Benefit Gala, a sell-out this year, welcomed guests into the ballroom, which had been transformed into a feverishly hot scene swathed in red, gold, and orange. Event chairman Carla Thompson set out to make this season's Gala a sizzling occasion: attendees would agree she succeeded once again.

A Latin flavor enveloping the atmosphere spotlighted Tango dancers, a special South American cuisine, and Caiprihanas. Guests grooved to alternating performances from The Moonlight Orchestra and dead-on impersonations of music legends Ray Charles, Rod Stewart, and Elton John. Later, Pardi Grastook the stage and rocked the ballroom until 1:00 a.m. The Cliburn acknowledges with gratitude the support of Gala committee members and generous underwriters who made the evening a record-breaking success. Net proceeds from Catch the Fever will support the Thirteenth Competition, May 22-June 7, 2009.
