2006Gala InviteUnderneath the tall palm trees and alongside the cabanas, it was a tropical paradise as the 2006 Cliburn Gala revved up at Fort Worth's Renaissance Worthington Hotel. On March 4, the ballroom was transformed into Van's Coconut Grove-reminiscent of The Coconut Grove in Los Angeles' famous Ambassador Hotel that once regaled Hollywood's elite from the Roaring Twenties through the Fifties and beyond. Partygoers enjoyed tango dancers; danced to music by Party on the Moon; and relished the exotic atmosphere, replete with blinking dark glasses for the ladies, engineered by event chairman Carla Thompson. The Cliburn wishes to thank the dedicated committee members, generous underwriters, and the many guests who made this year's Gala a resounding success.
