Recital showcases the Cliburn's Commissioned Works
In celebration of the Cliburn's 50th Anniversary and its longstanding commitment to new music, the Van Cliburn Foundation and Crow Collection of Asian Art presented a special recital of Cliburn Competition Commissioned Works, featuring 2009 Silver Medalist Yeol eum Son.
Amateur Competition winners perform special recital
In honor of its yearlong 50th Anniversary celebration, the Cliburn hosted a special free concert featuring Amateur Competition winners Michael Hawley (2002), Drew Mays (2007), Christopher Shih (2011), and Clark Griffith (2011).
The Cliburn owns three concert grand Steinways, housed in Bass Performance Hall, which are used for Cliburn Concerts and during the quadrennial Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
Cliburn board developing new strategic plan
As part of its commitment to ensure the continued success of the Van Cliburn Foundation, the Cliburn's Board of Directors is undertaking the planning process to develop a new strategic plan to take us into the next 50 years.
Gold medalists interviews from the red carpet
In celebration of 50 years of transcendent musical moments, the Cliburn welcomed more than 850 guests to its golden anniversary gala on March 3, 2012. Special guests included six competition gold medalists, who paused for red carpet interviews, sharing their Cliburn reminiscences and best wishes.
Since its inception in 1962, the Cliburn has consistently worked to stay ahead of the ever-advancing technological curve. Now, to celebrate its 50th Anniversary, the Cliburn has launched its newly designed Web site.
